My son found out today that he made the honor roll for last year and his awards ceremony is in a couple weeks. The high schools usually don't tell the students until the prior school year is completed and they start the next school year. So his grade 9 year, he made the honor roll and will have his ceremony this school year (grade 10 year). This is my second child (only have 2) that has made the honor roll in high school. My oldest made honor roll all 4 years in high school and is now in his second year of university.
I'm so proud of him. At 9 years old he was diagnosed with a learning disability, struggled in school, and was put on the IEP. By 12 years old he was able to do the same work as the rest of his clasmates who were not on the IEP and be graded the same as them. His grades were higher than most of his classmates. This was a child who I didn't think would be at least college material because the first 2 years after being diagnosed he struggled academically. I knew he was doing well in school but never imagined him being able to make that milestone. I'm big on continuing your post secondary education with my kids. I'm hoping he is able to maintain staying on the honor roll for grades 10 through 12.
Thanks for letting me brag.
