How do I say this... I feel like I've been lied to and decieved my entire life by what is known as the "church." You see I have always been able to dream things way before they happen and I even have dreams about past lives. I see ppl in my dreams then meet them in real life, (ex my hubby). Anyway I had a dream about this symbol I had never seen before. In my dream I was trying to protect myself from something so I began to draw the symbol on the ground. When I finished I felt safe. So of course when I woke up I searched all over for the symbol. I couldnt find it b/c I didnt know where to begin to look. I told my mom about the dream and drew the symbol down on paper for her. As soon as she saw it she said it was an Ancient Egyptian symbol. I did some research and low and behold I found something that was confusing to me, and contridicting to my christian belief. You see, I had been asking God to show me the truth about my spirituality, and in my dream I got the answer. Turns out the symbol was of the eye of Heru aka Horus. I read about Horus and found that his life story is almost parallwel to that of Jesus! Un hunh... Now mind you I was a die hard Christian, so it didnt sit well with me at first. Then I started to think. If Jesus was one of the most important men that walked the earth then why is it so hard to prove his existance, yet Horus is written all over the Pyramids of Egypt 1,000's of years BC. I got to thinking and I wondered what did my ancestors believe. When there was no such thing as jesus or church, or the bible, they didnt just die and go to "hell". But that is what I was told. I was told a lot of things and as I get older I am realizing the truth, and its not all in the bible. I just hope that you ladies will give this some thought. Look it up (the simularities of Jesus and Horus) and give your thoughts.

  • I've read your post and I looked up Horus. My question is Why do you feel that you've been deceived? I don't understand what is contradicting to your belief? Is it because Horus believers chose to aknowledge him by plastering him all over, that was their way of worshiping him. They chose to build and paint images of him everywhere, that is how they showed their faith and belief in him. Everyone has a different way of showing their faith. I believe that there is only one true God and I also believe that he did give his only son and that Jesus died for our sins. But, I don't have to go around broadcasting it to everyone I see or encounter to prove that.

  • I completely understand how you feel. I never could understand how so many people could put their faith in a religion that was used to enslave a world, not just us African Americans. And believe in a Bible that was changed to enslave and take over the world. But like I always say "to each it's own". If your religion make you a better person for your self and the world than thats fine by me.

I am a muslim and we believe One God. Period. God has always been God, even in ancient times. We also believe that he sent approximately 150,000 prophets to the Earth. So even though we don't hear about them doesn't mean other prophets didn't exist. I'm not say that Heru was a prophet, but  if he preached the basic tenets of Islam like the belief in 1 God, heaven and hell, peace and justice, then it is possible.

All in all, we all will be judged based upon what we did in this life,  If u believe in God and strive to be God like... we have 99 names for Allah to help us out with that, then I think you will be ok.

I guess that's just my two cents:-)

  • Hi,

I read your post and also looked up some information about Horus.  I think you should continue to look into the life of Jesus Christ and you will see that what he did as the son of the Almighty God makes him the greatest man that ever lived.  It is true that some people once they believe in a certain teaching or doctrine  or in some cases a person, they go all out to worship the person or thing.  You will definitely see that Horus did not have all of the qualities that Jesus had, even though he was popular in Egypt.  If you are a christian, continue to pray to God for help and understanding, because remember what Matthew 7:7 says, keep on asking it will be given and keep on seeking and you will find it.  Continue to pray for Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost, in order to help you.  Pray then read your Bible daily and you will see that God's Word is not deceptive, but is full of truths about God and His Son Jesus!!!

  • You have a gift that was given to you by God. Period. What you choose to believe is your free will.  Period.  I was raised in a Catholic church, but as I got older turned to Christianity.  I also began to question the Catholic church and how it could promote such hatred toward other religions as well as practice racism.  But then I began questioning things about the bible. Why? Basically, because it was interpreted by man. The same man who used it as a "weapon" against other races and religions so long ago.  Who's to say what they have interepreted was not solely for their benefit, and there is not more infomation buried away somewhere. More information that tells the real truth.   So I don't take every word in the bible or coming from the preachers mouth as gospel any longer.  What I do, though is live according to how God wants me to.  I'm intelligent, and I instinctively know right from wrong.  We all do. It was put in us from the beginning.  I do instill belief in God and his goodness in my children, and we do pray and give thanks, but I don't "slam" the bible or church down their throats.  Don't get me wrong, there are some aspects of going to a church that I like and think are beneficial for a child as well, but I don't believe I should push what is questionable.  So you keep on searching, you keep on asking.  You will find your answer.

And remember, everyone is not ready to hear what you know because everyone is not ready to know the truth. You have a gift.  One that was given to you for a reason. Use it wisely and unselfishly, and in time, the purpose for you receiving this gift will also be revealed.

  • I think what you ladies are missing is that I have a new faith. I do believe in God. But I honestly believe that Christianity is a religion that was created to manipulate the mind and deceive the heart - and that is exactly what it is doing. I dont see how anyone can believe that what was before Jesus existence is just wrong or misleading. For that I have to say YOU do the research. You've been told what is right your entire life. But even a blind man has site w/o site.

  • There is a book called the 16 Pagan Messiahs. Does that take away the fact that Jesus walked the earth- no and history and archeology back up the Bible. The cities and places and  people in the Bible did in fact live or can be verified to have existed. There is only one truth and the lie. There are many people who  believe in evolution or say that God doesn't exist. The ancient Egyptians believed in multiply Pagan Gods and today alot of people follow their teaching who  are Masonic which has ties to Satanism and Withcraft. You will see alot of the same rituals and symbols.

This can be verified in doing research even on You Tube or reading books. The masons pattern alot of things out of the Eyptian book of the Dead or mystical near eastern practices and beliefs.

Also the roman catholic church added pagnism to Christianity because there was never Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas in the Bible. I hope these link help you along on your research

I dont exactly agree. Ancient Egypt existed long befor Paganism was even organized. The bible does recognize other gods, yet Christians believe there is only one. Odd.

Many African American Christians practice Hoodoo along side of the religion in respects to God and the Earth. But that too has been linked with witchcraft and black magic. Doesnt mean it is bad, or against God. They follow the secret book of Psalms and the Sixth and Seventh Books of Moises. But those books were excluded from the bible (as well as others). The bible has been distored and mistranslated for years. So im still not convienced. (not that I ever could be - again)

I am sorry you feel that way.

However, the heart is deceitful on it's own, it doesn't need any help with that. (Jeremiah 17:9)

As for proving Jesus existed, it's not that hard if you know where to look. The Case For Christ is one book that goes into great detail and The Case For Faith is the follow up. Both were written by Lee Strobel, a former atheist who set out to prove that Jesus didn't exist.

As for the other things you've said, yes, you have been decieved, but it wasn't God or Christianity that decieved you. Well...maybe if you make god into a lowercase instead of uppercase, then yes, that is who has deceived you. (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

Not that all churches are walking in Truth, because that's not the case. There are some deceitful "Christian" churches out there, but you would know that if you had read your Bible when you were still associating with Christianity.

However, every single point that you are trying to make doesn't really resonate with me because it has an answer that's based on Truth. Everything that you think Christianity or the Church lied to you about can be answered by flipping through the Bible and reading it.

    -What happened before Christianity?

-What happens to people who never heard of it? That's not fair to say they automatically go to hell.

    -What about these other religions?

-Why is this story so similar to Jesus?

    - How do I know if I am talking to God or the god of this world?

Sorry but it is all in the Bible.

Perhaps you came to the conclusions you did because there is some area of your life that indicated that is what you wanted. Because if you leave certain doors open, someone will walk right in and fill in those gaps before you even have a chance to object.

I wish you the best in finding the Truth that you seek.

  • Sometimes, it's hard for people to discern between systematic religion and faith in the heart.

Systematic religion is the religion that you come to know that is decided by man. It is no secret that the Bible that we know, though texts were said to be divinely inspired by God, was ultimately compiled by men, with some books explicitly being left out on purpose. It is also no secret that some things in the Bible, Qu'ran, and other books have been distorted and used out of context on purpose for power and political gain. This is all doctrine and dogma and should not penetrate YOUR own faith.

Faith in the heart is what you personally believe based on experience and your own interpretations. Come to your own understanding first without someone else trying to convince you of something. As you progress, you can continue to learn and stay open to other paths, but you cannot let someone else's personal interests (like a specific church) skew your own perspectives. It's good to question why you believe certain things, especially if there was never a thorough understanding to begin with and only things told to you. Experience WHY you believe them. If you find you don't believe it, find out what you DO believe.
