Mine, actually, is our complex garbage area. (I give back as well. LOL) I constantly find things there. My sister put her things in storage and moved here so she didn't have any thing. I stocked her apartment with things left from others moving out. Mostly wicker and such. A trip to the goodwill got the dishes and kitchen necessities. When people have to hurry and they're tired of carrying things they tend to "shed" stuff. I also got quite a few "props" for hubby's photography. The steamer trunk was the best find for that!.
Where do you usually find your treasures?
Yard sales, junkin' , flea markets, consignment stores just about anywhere where items are very low priced. Mostly though the yard sales are my biggest finds. Oh yea and also auctions. I got alot of old stuff that can be transformed into some neat things for the house.
Consignments, yard sales, thrift stores, stuff like that. Once in a while..... by a garbage can. People throw out some of the weirdest things. The best find I had got was 2 intables that we got at a thrift store for $10 each. They are beautiful and they were once in Congressman Tanner's of TN's home. His wife donated them.
I love to go to auctions! You can get a whole box of "junk"-valuable stuff for a couple of dollars. I have gotten some really great stuff that way. Once I bought a group of clear glass canister jars with wood lids. I think there were about 20 of them in two boxes. I paid around $8-10 for both boxes. I painted the lids to match the family kitchens and ended up with 5 gifts and gave the rest to my daughter who had just gotten an apartment. Great deal!
I love to go to yard sales too. Sometimes I find loads of stuff in one day. Other times I have to look for awhile to find that "perfect" thing.
