Weightloss while EBF

I have a 3 month old lil girl, who I lovingly refer to as my nursey monster because she nurses about every hour to hour and half while she's awake. I know it is harder to loose post baby weight when you are nursing because your body naturally stores some baby fat "just in case." But I am hungry ALL THE TIME. I drink PLENTY of water, at least 2 gallons a day, so I don't think that's the problem. But I can eat a full breakfast and in 2 hours I'm starving again, like I haven't eaten all day. I am also trying very hard to loose my baby bump, but I am afraid of doing to much and loosing to much weight at once (read somewhere that you shouldn't loose more than 2 lbs a week while breastfeeding, cause the baby can get toxins). And I definitely don't want to gain anymore and I feel like that's what's going to happen if I keep eating when I'm hungry. I have tried having granola bars on those in-between meals hungry moments, but it's just not cutting it. Is this normal to be this freaking hungry all the time? Or am I just over-indulging and "pretending" I'm still prego? Any help or advice would be great! Thanks Mommies!

I'm anxious for the answer, too.  I have NEVER been so hungry in all my life.  I don't remember this with  my first DD.  I could eat all day right now and still be hungry!  Part of it is that I was very sick when pg this time and food actually tastes good again but GOOD GRIEF I feel like a pig.

I had the same problem! I was always told how breast feeding is supposed to help you loose weight, but I lost weight much faster with my first who I only BF for two months, compared to my youngest who I am still BF and he's 14 months old. I was hungry all the time, and I was making sure I was eating very healthy and drinking plenty of water, but the weight just wasn't coming off... well as much as I wanted it to. It took me 9 months to get to my pre-pregnancy weight, which I just decided to be proud of myself and it was more important for me to BF then to loose weight instantly. Good luck and hang in there, you'll have your body back before you know it, but I understand your frustration.

I actually just realized I was way too big and needed to start doing something about it. I was so hungry all the time too, but then I realized that I was over-eating and maybe even doing it because I was bored. I am still BFing and I go to the gym, and eat healthy. I still make plenty of milk, and feel better than ever. I think I was eating so much because I was so used to it from being prego. Now that I started eating less, I actually am less hungry all the time. Maybe my stomache shrunk back to normal. I really have been pushing myself, harder than I thought I could handle, and the weight is starting to just fall off. Just push yourself is the only advice I can give. Do crunches when the baby is down, put them in the stroller, go to the gym as soon as you can get a babysitter. I'm no pro but this has definitely helped me.

Completely normal.

Cut yourself some slack. Nine months on, MINIMUM nine months off.

but I am afraid of doing to much and loosing to much weight at once (read somewhere that you shouldn't loose more than 2 lbs a week while breastfeeding, cause the baby can get toxins). COMPLETELY normal. Weight Watchers will help.

Here's the deal, ladies....

Absolutely normal to still be hungry. Would be a bit odd if you weren't.

Don't look for the baby weight to be gone for close to a year, and don't look for your old body again ever. Your breasts get changed. Your hips get changed. You've ben through an extreme makeover. **grin**

wow I'm glad I ran across the post cuz I wasn't like this with my son either and now with my daughter I too could eat like ALL the time.  My DH always makes fun of me cuz I have my nightly bowl of cereal but seriously dinner will not hold me all night.
