It doesn't bother me, but NONE of my family understands it and tells me I need to get DS off the boob so this baby can have it. I refuse to wean him from something that is very good from him and makes him so happy. I am confused as to what to say to them to get them to lay off, how to explain it to DH, and even how to make sure this baby gets all the colostrum and hind milk he will need. Can anyone help me?

Well there WILL be enough colostrum..think the 2 days in the hospital of mostly baby nursing as the BIG time.  Once milk comes in nurse like you have twins..either the same time OR give each one a set breast.  Plus there are women who can BF with one breast and make enough milk, you can do this..many women have.  get a copy of adventures in tandem nursing, I need to get a copy myself closer to my due date, I'm 17 weeks and still nursing my 31 month son.  I too am trying to get mom to understand its safe for me to nruse and I will not force him to wean.

Thank god my hubby is supportive.  I wish i could help you from that standpoint.

Here is my problem. DS is 16 months and only nurses once or twice a day. I don't want to give one a set breast because one will grow and one will stay the same and it will look odd. What if DS wants to nurse and its not time for the baby to?

Actually a mostly empty breast has fattier milk there will ALWAYS be enough milk, but I would work at giving him set times to nurse if you kwim?  Go ahead and let him have both but do it at times you know that baby will be a while til he nurses.  I'd nurse at seperate times in this case, my guy was nurse 5-7 times a day at 16 months so 2-3 times will be much easier than what I had first said.
