I posted bafore about trying to wean and recieved good advice but having problems.
I have tried an all formula bottle and she gagged and started screaming. So gave her BM bottle instead. The next night I tried again and used half and half that didnt work either.
So my question is do I use even less formula like 3/4 BM and 1/4 formula? Or is it the brand of the formula? I am starting to think weaning is not going to be an option. :(![]()

It may be the formula in general. If you're wanting to switch, you're going to need to experiment.
I've also forgotten the reason for weaning? There may be another solution.
It is very difficult to wean a breastfed baby to formula because the breastmilk tastes so much better to the baby. Its much sweeter then the formulas. If you are really set on formula feeding and want to wean her then I would definately say to contact your pedi and ask them for some samples of some formula. Most offices carry a bunch of different ones and explain you want to try to find one the baby will take. But most likely its just that its "formula" and not BM that she wont take it not really the kind of formula.
I also tried giving my daughter formula because Im running out of breastmilk I dont pump enough when Im at work for the amount she takes in while im gone. I had a good supply in my freezer but its dwindling QUICKLY, but she wouldnt take it either. But, if she gets hungry enough she will take it. But whoeever watches your baby may have a difficult time at first.
If you are committed to switching to formula just know that it will be a long process and there will be a lot of crying involved. I did both the bottle feeding and nursing (Exclusively formula fed my first and Exclusively BF my 2nd) and I can say that the nursing is SOOOOOOOOOO much easier especially when they get bigger. You dont have to clean any bottles or wait for it to warm up and you are done so much quicker! The pumping is annoying (to me) but worth not having to deal with bottles.
I dont get much pumping time at work either but as I said before I went back to work I pumped ALL the time. If she slept at night for a longer period I got up and pumped. In between feedings if she went 4 hours I would pump after 2 just so I would have a big enough supply when I went back. Maybe thats an idea for you. Good luck!
Quoting MOM2AMAYA:I wanted to wean because I plan on going back to work and there will be almost no time to pump unless I dont want to eat.
I understand I might have to try different formulas but that can get really expensive!
Most moms pump WHILE they eat... legally, most states also require a job to give you other pump breaks aside from lunch. ;)
But, for you... I'd look into reverse cycling. She's plenty old enough for it... Pump what you are able (you can pump before work or in the evening as well.. just set up a routine that works for you) and she'll make up the rest when you get home. No biggie.

Ahhh. You DO NOT have to wean for that. Nurse when you're home. She likely will wait till you get there and that's 100% fine.

The problem may also be YOU giving it. Hand baby and bottle to someone ELSE and get outta Dodge. Out of sight, sound and hearing for the better part of a day. If truly hungry baby WILL eat what's given. More likely, she'll wait for you. That's called reverse cyckling, is 100% normal and is actually healthier than giving formula.
