so when i pump i only get like 2 ounces out of each breast and im trying to pump and freeze it. but the storage bags fill up to 8-10 ounces and are so expensive. so my question is can i pump in the morning, put it in the frige and pump again in the afternoon and add it to the miilk from the same morning and then freeze it? or will it go bad or what? please explain.
Depending on the type of pump you have you should be able to pump into a storage bottle which is much more affordable in the long run.
However to answer your question. I used to pump more than once in the same bag/ bottle then freeze it. My milk was always fine, and I pumped for 18 months doing this. I agree it's a waste if you are only filling it a little. GL hope that helps.
I know the bags are expensive BUT remember you should store in the amounts per serving, which means no more than 5 oz no matter the age when it comes to bottles.
I would store in 3-4 oz, I know bags cost a fortune, don't use medela they are twice the price and not worth the money, but its bets to store in sections that will be used and so none is wasted
I've been pumping and storing in amounts ranging from 2-4 ounces, but no more than that. I have been using the lansinoh bags. Anyone know of any other good ones that might be cheaper?

No no no...do NOT fiull them all the way. You'll wind up wasting half the milk.

You can cool to the same temp and combine...but a serving is no more than four ounces so just leave things be or you'll wind up wasting. Once thawed, breastmilk must be used in an hour. And eight oucnes is a full day's allotment.
Tell you what I did, because they didn't MAKE these spendy storage bags when I was nursing...
Playtex bottle liners. I had to stand them upright and seal them with twist ties. But it worked.
I used the gerber storage bags I bought at wal-mart, I think they were less than $5 for a box of 25.

wow the bottle liner thing is a good idea!
i think he is wanting more than just the 4 ounces at a time though. he is wanting to eat like 2 or 3 times an hour sometimes. and last night he wasnt getting anything so i gave in after an hour and defrosted 2 bags (=4ounces) and he downed it so fast and wanted more. and iv had to give him formula a couple times and we made 8 ounce bottles and he ate the whole thing in one sitting. should i maybe start him on rice cereal? do you think that would fill him up a little more? he is 4 months btw
Put him back to the breast when he fusses; you will be shooting yourself in the foot if you keep giving him bottles. 1. you run the risk of losing your supply and 2. nipple preference. He is getting more out than you can pump anyday!
