while she's so young - yes!

If at her 2 week appt baby has gained a good amount of weight - the dr will probably tell you to go ahead and let them sleep.

So little it's important to wake them up, they are so sleepy as new newborns and if you don't wake them their blood sugar can drop making them even sleepier!

Way to go for breastfeeding!

I have heard of people saying their babies would sleep too long when first born and needed to be woken to eat. I've never had one like that though.

I wouldn't wake her up if she's sleeping...most breastfed newborns will wake up when they get hungry. (I guess that goes for all newborns, ha.) Feeding on demand simply means not looking at clocks while feeding...for example: most pediatricians and nurses that are NOT breastfeeding smart will say "feed your baby for 15 minutes on each side and then they're done" which isn't true....just let your baby nurse every time he/she roots, looks like they're hungry, if they want comfort, etc. Feeding on demand just means you don't have a schedule for feeding. Most FF babies will eat every 3-4hrs..with BF babies, they eat whenever they're hungry.

Never never never wake a sleeping baby UNLESS you're not changing enough dipes. Scheduling ONLY happens when on demand doesn't generate 6-8 dipes a day.

This is true IF the meconium has not been passed. If it's gone and the jaundice is gone, no more waking. No matter what the age. Just count dipes.
