I asked earlier how soon the doc told you could have sex after IUD insertion.
How long do you use back up protection and is the time different for sex if you just had a baby like 8 weeks ago?
I had the mirena IUD put in 6 weeks after having my now 10 month old. I spotted the whole 2 months I had it in, as soon as they removed it, I stopped bleeding. I don't have a period while nursing, so I was not happy about the period I was having. My Dr told me it starts working right away. I was not happy with it though, I could swear that I could feel it. I know a couple of people that are happy with it, just wanted to inform, because it is not for everyone.

I had mine for a year a spotted every day. I had a pre-cancerous pap and they took it out to give me cone knife and said that they could put it back in if I wanted them to but I opted out. I now use the Fertility Awareness Method. I LOVE IT!!! You can pretty much tell exactly when you ovulate so you don't have to be on BC. My charts are all over the place right now though since I haven't had a period since my son was born.
I havent had mine in that long i had it put it in during my six week check up i spotted for 2 days after it was placed and havent spotted since nor have had my period yet. so i'm srry im not much help
