My breasts are sore after feedings. At first I thought It was due to her not latching properly, but it is not my nipples and it does not hurt WHILE she is eating, only after. I nurse on both sides at every feeding. (is that normal? I have heard some women say they feed on only one side) If my breasts were not being compleletly emptied during each feeding would that cause the soreness and is that a bad thing? It usually goes away within half an hour or so and then the only other time my breasts feel like that is when it gets close to feeding time and I am really full.
Also, whenever I get cold, they hurt like hell!! does anyone else experience this?? I try really hard to not grab my breasts in public, but dang they hurt sometimes, especially when it gets time to feed! LOL. Ahh the joy!
Quoting okokokokok:yeah they hurt try being in teh nicu all day with crying babies they tingle and the milk flows its irritating! i think its normal at least what im going thru somewhat and im new to this like 2 weeks now
I experience the same thing when she crys! I am also new to this, 12 days. Mine don't leak though, not until she is on one and then the other starts flowing!
Um maybe thrush. Is the inside of babies mouth white like cottage cheese and are your nipples red or anything of that sort?If so try wiping the white off babies mouth and if it does not come off or if it does and there is red sores then yes its trush. When you say your nipples hurt is it like glass cutting them feeling?Could also be that you just have a really strong letdown.
I know what you mean about when ever you get cold they hurt.Im still nursing my 20 month old son and when I get cold they hurt.

Nope, it doesn't sound like thrush, my nipples don't hurt at all (that was last weeks problem! LOL) and no white stuff in her mouth. I think I have a strong let down, but i'm new to all of this so I really have no idea!
K well its it like a tingling sensation but hurts type of feeling? If so that is your letdown. It will happen when your nursing as the milk is coming out, when your around a child that cries,or after your nurse at times.I had a very strong let down with my son at first up till he was a little over a year old and that is what it felt like.Alot of the time after he was done nursing milk would be pouring out of my breasts.

Here you go
What is the let-down reflex?
This let-down reflex makes breastfeeding easier for your baby. Let-down may also occur if a feeding is overdue, if you hear your baby cry or even if you think about your baby.
Let-down can be forceful enough to cause your baby to cough. If this is a problem, you can express some of your milk by hand before a feeding to bring on the let-down reflex before you start breastfeeding.

Yes, that is what it feels like, a tingling but kinda of painful feeling. What is the let down everyone is talking about?? That is the flow of your milk?
