Barberry root while nursing?

I'm sick as a freaking dog and don't usually use medication.  A friend has used barberry root capsules with excellent results, and is going to bring some over.  Does anyone have experience with it while nursing?  Most of google's stuff seems to say not to use it while pregnant...DS is 3 months old if that makes a difference.

BARberry or BEARberry? The latter is contraindicated while nursing. Nothing on the former.

BARberry, it's powdered barberry root.  Super antibiotic properties, apparently, so I'm spacing out a probiotic as well...
