supply drying up, Help!

I got sick-still am, and I started taking a multi medicine and I think one of the active ingredients is causing me to dry up! I don't want this to happen and neither does my 8 month old, who is VERY attached to the breast, lol. Is there anything I can do? I only drink water and have been for a month(I'm trying to lose weight, so I cut out soft drinks and sugar filled drinks as well). Is there something I can do? Thanks in advance!

Symptoms, please. 99 percent of moms who thinkg they are drying up actually are NOT.

You should probably stop taking the multi-medicine if it has any decongestants in it. Try using Vicks nasal spray instead, it's a nasal decongestant. I use it at night only and with a half-dose so that I can use it a couple of more nights in a row than I would be able to otherwise.

Eat oatmeal. Nurse constantly. Stay hydrated. As long as you nurse a lot, you should be fine. :)

Yeah I'm with Gdiamante, we need more info, what makes you think your supply is drying up. Most moms who think they are having a problem is not.

(GAK! I did NOT intend to give this post a "funny" charm. My son clicked it, and there's apparently no way to un-charm a post, and there's no confirmation for it.)

I agree with gruntlings, you should discontinue the med and use something else.

Neither of those things means a supply problem. Your breasts are supposed to stop feeling full...they should have done a long time ago, actually. The soreness may well be a harbinger of your period. Keep up your water, lansinoh and carry on.

I'd discontinue the meds if your worried about them impacting your supply, esp. if they have a decongestant in them.

The hurting sounds more like your period might be coming back. Hurting isn't a sign of low supply, it's a sign that either your period is coming (which CAN lower supply), or that you're pregnant.

The "less full" sounds like supply stabilization. Which is actually a good thing. Feeling full is bad and can lead to mastitis. Sometimes women feel the first serious supply stabilization around 6 mos, others around 9mos. Read this: http://custommademilk.wordpress.com/2009/02/14/supply-and-demand-how-breasts-work/ As long as your LO is willing to work to increase your milk, your milk will come back up. :)

Check his latch to make sure that he's not clamping down or doing anything else that could cause pain. If he's doing something that hurts, use toddler nursing manners to get him back in line: http://custommademilk.wordpress.com/2009/02/23/painful-toddler-nursing/

The most important things, though, are to make sure that any solids he eats are eaten AFTER he nurses (as in immediately after, not as in an hour after) so that he's not eating too much solids, since that can interfere with supply when it's done before a year. And to not mistake any "weaning" that he does for actual weaning. Treat it like a nursing strike. (google that for more information).

As long as his wet diaper counts are good, your supply is most likely just fine.

If it's genuinely low and your baby's wet diaper counts are lower, you can try eating the foods on this list: http://www.mobimotherhood.org/MM/article-diet.aspx

There's no way possible for my to be pregnant because I had my tubes, burned, cut and tied, so noooo possible way, lol. I took him to his pulmonolgist today and he's having a hard time breathing, so that is partly why he is nursing the way he is. Thank you all for your support and helpful info :-D
