DS hates pacifiers but MIL just called to say (among other things) she got him a variety of pacifiers. How do I eloquenty refuse them. My MIL and I get along so I don't want to be rude.

You could just take them then give them away?

Does she know he hates them? If not, maybe tell her you've tried but he won't take them. If so, I'd say something like, "wow, that's a lot of pacifiers. Since he won't take them, I guess we can always put them in his toy box for him to play with!"

My LO hates binkies and that's what we did with hers. Now she carries them around in her teeth like a pipe. lol

Would she be okay with something like.... "oh I'm sorry, he does not use pacifiers.. could we exchange them for ___ (teethers, baby bowls/spoons, bibs, etc)?"

Say, "Thank you, that was so thoughtful.     DS doesn't take pacifiers. but we do need X and he would really enjoy that."
