When you can't be with your baby or pump

Last week I had to go to a training workshop 2 hours from my home. This workshop was from 8am to 4pm. So I pumped and fed my 5 month old dd before I left town at 6am. By the time I left the workshop I had to stop at a gas station to massage my breasts before I headed home. Any other suggestions? Next month I'm going on a ladies retreat with my church overnight. I assume that I can pump in the hotel room, but Idk about the rest of the time. This is my first retreat, so idk what to expect.

Learn manual expression. Express into a toilet, so supply won't be affected. It's really good in those situations when you forget your pump and are away from baby!

Manual expression. But I would INSIST on taking pumping time; even workshops offer breaks and you need only ten minutes.

Not doing so can cause you serious problems with pain and leaking.

I keep a breastmilk storage bottle (for hand expression) in the purse I use when I am not with baby, just for those times when I find myself not able to nurse or pump.
