weaning

can a 6week old wean themselfes the reason i ask is bc DS hasnt wanted to eat much in the last 12 hours is that normal. he is still pooping and peeing he just dosent seem to want to eat as much and last night he bf for a few mins than fall asleep is that ok?

An infant WILL NOT wean themselves. Changes in eating patterns happen all through babyhood. As long as you're changing enough dipes, he's eating enough :)

I would be offering it every 4 hours, but I definitely don't think a baby that young will wean. They go thru many stages where they readjust to what is comfortable for the to eat, then the next thing you know is they're in a growth spurt and your boob hurts from being their constant companion LOL

You want to change at least 6 diapers in a 24 hour period.

DS has done that before - almost like a short nursing strike. Just keep offering like pp said.

I think someone posted on here that normal self weaning occurs after 18 months.

Yes. My kids often only took one side at a time.
