Hi there I am trying to help a friend who exclusively pumps. She pumped and thinks her fresh milk smells sour? Any thoughts, suggestions, etc? THANKS!

Did she taste it? Sometimes our sense of smell is off. Might also be the containers so she should check them once cleaned. Plastic can hold odors.

If there is a sour taste, she may have excess lipase. That's a common issue and DOES NOT mean her milk is bad. The milk can be scalded to eliminate the problem. Directions for scalding on kellymom.com.

Milk must be scalded BEFORE refrigeration.
