Any tips on how/when to night wean? Trying to get my 4 month old to sleep thru the night. She wakes up about 4x in the night to comfort nurse and not really eat. Currently she sleeps in our room, she starts off sleeping in her pack n play and usually the 1st time she wakes ill nurse her in bed and co sleep with her. I try and stay awake sometimes so I can put her back in her pack n play when she's done. I want to night wean her so I can put her in her room to sleep, but don't feel a need to right now if she's still nursing 3-4x a night. Any suggestions or tips on how to do this successfully?

I would not recommend night weaning at that age, or really anytime under 1 year. Breast milk is the most important part of their diet in the first year. As she gets older she will begin to have longer stretches of sleep. Do you have forceful letdown by any chance?

I just really wish she would sleep longer stretches, she does every once in awhile but nothing consistent. Mommy needs sleep tho so hopefully she can be consistent soon? Last 2 nights she slept from 8pm-230am but ten was up nursing every 2 hrs. No forceful letdown.

Technically 5 hours is through the night. Ur lucky! It is really recommended to try any kind of weaning before a year. 4 months is still almost brand new! Try bedsharing and side nursing. We sleep great!

Yes mommy needs sleep, but unfortunately baby needs to nurse more. You will get enough sleep and you will get more as time goes by. Many women cosleep to get a lot more and better sleep sooner. Maybe if you read, ''Nighttime parenting'' it will help.

I know we aren't the norm because my LO (of 8 weeks) sleeps at least 8 hours a night with maybe one wake up. But I just started giving her a bath every night and every other night I get in the tub with her and play in the water to help wear her down. We get dressed and put on some white noise with a dim light and try the BF and bassinet game. I feed her til she falls asleep and try to put her in the bassinet and we do that a few times until she stays asleep. :)
