Solids=upset tummy

So LO is 5 and a 1/2 months and I have been trying to slowly introduce solids, but every time I give her anything other than milk she gets a tummy issues the next day or so. As in extra spitting up/ blow out type poops etc.

Is this normal her body just getting used to the change?

She has had carrots, peas, banana, and oat meal. Each seperate and at least 3 days before a new thing was given. She has her 6 month check up next week, but she has been in the 90-95% since birth and is almost 20 lbs exclusively bf. I am not looking to give her a ton of solids but I would like her to be able to snack on them. She loves the taste and isn't cranky or anything, just minor tummy upset it seems.

Blow out poops are normal in any event. The spitting up can be a sign that it's too early.

That's what I am thinking.
I just know my dr is gonna look at me like I'm nuts when she asks (again) if she is on solids yet. She wanted them to be an every day occurance by now. Maybe I will just lie like I did about not co-sleeping lol!

A babys digestive system is really not ready until 6 months min, but some babies can handle it, seems like it might be to early for your baby.

Agreed. I would wait and try again in a few weeks or a month.

Smile and nod. The pedi is there for medical advice, not parenting advice. You can truthfully say she's been trying solids. How much more you say is up to you.

I smiled and nodded a LOT w my ped. Till I switched! I agree w the other posters, she may like the taste, but she is just not ready yet. Give it a month and try again =)

Smile and nod. Got it. I really have no problem waiting, keeping her a lil baby a bit longer is definately ok with me.

SOlids are best started after 6 months, most likely her gut is not ready, put it away for a month, obviously she is thriving on BM alone..just wait.  THEN think about babyled solids and skip the purees that way she only eats as much as she can feed herself
