My lactation consultant suggested me to use reglan as I am not getting much increase in supply even with latching baby and pumping. Has anyone used Reglan and experienced benefit to supply or any side effects?
Personaly, I'd never take reglan, It has somre really nasty and fairly common side effects. You can only take it short term for that reason. Depression and other psycological problems, Parkinsons-like tremmors to namr a few. Yes, it can boost your supply.
Is your LC an IBCLC?
How old is baby?
Has baby been evaluated for tongue tie or ant other problems that could lead to an ineffective latch/suck?
What kind of pump are you using?
How long have you been trying to increae supply?
How frequently are you pumping?
Are you using hand expression as well?
Reglan is very scary and I would never take it. There are plenty of other alternatives out there.
Blossom, I recognized your screen name so I went back to your previous post. Have you dropped the supplements? How often are you changing baby per day? SHould be 6-8 times by now, wets and/or poops. The dipe count is ALL that matters. If the count is good, then your supply is good.
Reglan is nasty stuff. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
On our resources sticky, there is a link titled HOW TO INCREASE SUPPLY. Check that out.
Did you ever get a pillow to bring baby up to the breast? Alternately, you might do well with laid back nursing... you sit back in a recliner or something that lets you lean back, and put baby on top.

Is your LC an IBCLC? : I am not sure. My baby's pediatrician have this lactation consultant
How old is baby? : Will be four weeks this thursday
Has baby been evaluated for tongue tie or ant other problems that could lead to an ineffective latch/suck? : I visited the lc today and she said baby's latch is an issue.
What kind of pump are you using? : Electric. Lansinoh brand
How long have you been trying to increae supply? : Past 2 weeks
How frequently are you pumping? : Four times ( twice in afternoon ) and twice during the night
I get very less with pump
Mornings: about an ounce together from both breasts combined
Evening: About 17-20 ml from both breasts combined
Early Morning( 3:00 am - 5:00 am): About 1.75 ml combined from both breasts.
My Ob-gyn mentioned reglan is not a suggested and has side effects. So I have decided not to take it.

: No. Stopping was not successful. I didnt give supplement for abt 10 hrs and latched him. Didnt get any wet or dirty diaper. Wasnt hearing gulping sound so got concerned and visited lc today. She said my latch was an issue and he is using me as a pacifier. Currently he is latching on but only for 2-3 mins and then is howling to delatch or get back to his comfortable latch - which lc says is more of using me as a pacifier and not drawing out enough milk.

If the count is good, then your supply is good. : He is taking about 12 ounces of formula and 5 ounces of pumped breast milk (plus latching - which lc feels was wrong..so will work on latch more) currently so diaper count will not be correct.

Yes I do use a pillow but as mentioned above, lc says my latch is wrong.I was trying to make sure his lips are fish shaped but as per her, his cheek should be pushed against the breast and you should not see lower section of the baby's lip.
I used Domperdone instead. I wasn't too fond of depression being one of the side effects, as I felt that I was more prone to that because my baby was in the NICU and had a lot of medical issues.
Domeperidone is not approved bt the FDA in the US, but can be made in a compounding pharmacy with a script from your Dr.
or ordered online, which is a lot cheaper.

Use of that term would have me fire her immediately. OF COURSE he pacifies on you... he's SUPPOSED to! Moms are not used as pacifiers. Pacifiers are replacements for mom.

Did she do a weigh/feed/weigh? I would do that for all feeds on anounce-sensitive scale. For 24 hours.

Hmmm. My son's cheek was never pushed up against the breast. He seemed to grow pretty darned well and I could see his fish lips just fine. Is she an IBCLC? Her card will tell you.
If it's a latch issue, reglan WILL NOT help. The latch needs to be fixed. But I'm not convinced there's a latch issue here.
