Today I was out and about all day and had some donor milk in my bag. When I got home I was getting ready to put some in the sns and I smelled it to make sure it was ok. It smelled kind of funky so I tasted it and it was, in my opinion, nasty! It tasted very soapy. Apparently it's high lipase milk. Now my son has been drinking milk from this particular donor since December. She gave us 1000 oz and has more for when we run out. Most of it is in my mil's freestanding freezer in her garage. Clearly my son has no problems with the taste. Kellymom and LLL say it will not harm him, and if he'll take it, there's no problem. So the only issue, really, is my feelings. I've tasted my fresh milk and it tastes exactly like the sweetened milk left over after you've eaten a bowl of Fruit Loops. In other words, way better than the donor milk. But my son still prefers a bottle of that soapy stuff to my straight-from-the-tap goodness. I am trying not to let that hurt my feelings! : p

Lol. I have a lipase issue as well. I discovered it when my older DD spit out my frozen milk in disgust. My infant couldn't care less.

I have a lipase issue as well, and my DD prefers my milk in a bottle over straight from the tap, lol. Maybe there's something special about it we can't taste?

I DO NOT recommend this, but I know a mother who puts a drop of vanilla into her high lipase donor milk... I have high lipase and DS doesn't care at all! :)

I have excess lipase too. You can scald the milk before freezing to help with the taste. Cutting back on sugar in your diet helps as well.
