The purpose of this post is to show my SO that I am not the only breastfeeder on the planet, and that others have nursed way longer than my current 18 months and still would up with normal kids in the end lol.

He seems to think Orion will develop a boob fetish and walk around grabbing "milkas" (o's word for boobies) of any female he sees. Who says a boob fetish is a bad thing?! Lol. I'm 100% sure men who were never breastfed have boob fetishes too, but I digress.

Anyway, please respond with some info to open his eyes. I think real women with real experience will show him how normal extended BF is and how non-damaging it is.

Include any or all of this plus anything else you think would be helpful to add:

-how long you breastfed any/all of your kids
-how your formerly breastfed children have developed into normal people (lol)
-why/how you decided to nurse for an extended period (for the purposes of this post, we will consider anything past age 1 extended)
-how breastfeeding has helped you and/or your baby

Again, any info you are able/want to provide will be extremely helpful. I also think this post can be shown to any man like mine who think their woman is the only woman on the planet who nurses (neither of our moms did, so I am the only person he has ever known to BF).

Thank you so much! <3

Nursed my almost 4 year old til he was over 3, when his twin siblings came along. I have exclusively bf my twins now for 11 months. They are all healthy and happy, beautiful little people. My 4 yo ds has no problems like groping females, and he's so cute bc he feeds his doll and babies like I feed the babies. He says he's a good daddy, giving his babies "boops". Lol!

My first was nudged into weaning at 15 months. My next two were both 24 months. My LO now is 30 months still nursing. I planned to make it past cold and flu season but not sure what happens after that! I have very little support in real life, my dh supports me. Well most people don't know because it plain doesn't come up because I haven't nursed in public in forever. By this stage most babies/toddlers are just nursing a couple times a day, if not a couple times a week. Every bit of my being drives me as it feels like the natural thing to do now.

My daughter is 11 months and I plan to breastfeed until at least 2. Breastmilk still provides tons of nutrients and antibodies for babies. It helps reduce the chance of baby getting sick. Also, the longer mom breastfeeds the more it reduces her risk for cancer. kellymom.com has info on extended breastfeeding.

I have not done any extended bfing but IMO boys (especially) that are breast fed or are exposed to bfing are more desensitized to breasts as a sexual thing. My oldest is 3 and sees me bf my baby all the time. He doesn't look at me as naked he sees me as a mom feeding a baby. When my dh is naked in front of him he giggles about daddy and his "big weewee" lol. I don't think you're messing him up at all, actually I think you would be making him more respectful of women's breasts.

I nursed my oldest just shy of two years. Then, it was normal to me to nurse for two years. That is what my older sisters did. He is a normal ten year old now and knows that breasts are for nursing.
My second is 4 years and two months and nurses occasionally. He is a normal boy and does not go around groping breasts. He doesn't even grope mine. He asks to nurse politely or he doesn't nurse.

-how long you breastfed any/all of your kids

First daughter, 17 months, twin boys- one 3 1/2 and one at 4 1/2

-how your formerly breastfed children have developed into normal people (lol)

So far so good LOL My first daughter is 9 and my sons are 5. I think the main thing with them is that they know what breasts are for. It doesn't phase them to see a mom nursing.

-why/how you decided to nurse for an extended period (for the purposes of this post, we will consider anything past age 1 extended)

My first daughter, I was planning stopping at a year. But then, I realized that day 365 wasn't any different than day 366. So, I continued. With my twins, I knew I'd nurse past a year. It just made sense.

-how breastfeeding has helped you and/or your baby

It was another "tool" in my tool box. Also, I really believe that nursing helped one of my twins get over RSV and swine flu quicker than if they weren't nursing.

My boys do not go around grabbing other women's breasts. Nor does my 9 year old daughter. Funny about the boob fetish. My sister said the same thing. So silly.
