No More Than 35mins? Edit With Weights

I was informed by my Paediatrician that a baby should not be allowed to breastfeed more than 35 minutes.

What are your opinions?

It was suggested I put her weights here.

Birth: 2.590Kg      91.36 oz
2nd day: 2.44Kg     86.09 oz
First week: 2.33Kg   82.19 oz
Second week: 2.40Kg  84.66 oz
Third week: 2.40kG     84.66 oz
Fourth Week: 2.50Kg    88.18 oz
Fifth Week: 2.52Kg       88.89 oz
Sixth week: 2.59Kg     91.36 oz
7th Week: 2.61Kg       92.06 oz
8th Week: 2.63         92.77 oz
9th Week (prior to formula): 2.63kG     92.77 oz

After 24hrs with formula: 2.8kG   98.77 oz

With formula:

11th week: 3.12kg   110.05oz
12th week: 3.6kg  126.98oz
13th week: 3.78kg   133.33oz

Oh and birth length was 44cm (17.32inches) and head circumference 31.5cm (12.40inches). She is now 56cm long and has a 36cm head circumference.

And she has Grade IV Vesico-Ureteral reflux, Bilateral Hydronephrosis and a Duplicated Left Ureter system, but the doctor says this will have no bearing on weight.

Her dad is also 5'4" and weighs just under 60kg. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 80. I was 10lb 6oz born, 56cm long. SO was 4.5lb and 46cm long.

Wrong. Baby gets to nurse as often as they want for as long as they want. Doing otherwise can impact your supply.

Pediatricians are also NOT trained in human lactation and usually dispense incorrect information regarding such. Glad you checked in here :)

That your pedi was talking out of his ass. When my son was going through his growth spurts he would literally hang on my breast for 24 hours. They need to eat on demand to adjust the supply, that might mean a lot longer then 35 minutes.

Oh I probably would lol. I get so irritated about the amount of misinformation being doled out I want to cry sometimes. I just responded to another post where the nurses told a girl she wasn't producing enough colostrum and to just give baby bottles until her milk came in. OMG. If dd wasn't sleeping next to me I would have screamed. It's no wonder so many women don't succeed at breastfeeding!

thats the most rediculous thing I"ve ever heard!  Some womens milk comes flying out and some is much slower and takes baby a lot longer to get satisfied.  You let your BABY tell you how long he/she needs to breastfeed, not your pedi!!

actually, i'd like to know what your pedi is trying to make you do... because if it's bad advice, i hope you aren't listening to them.
