formula poop

I babysit a 9 month old breastfed baby. His mother decided to quit pumping at work and feed him formula while I watch him and nurse him when they are together. Recently he has been pooping 3 or 4 times in the 6 hours he is with me and it is A LOT of really nasty poo (the kind you take to the outside trash can). Is this normal?

not sure about pooping. my ds used to be FF, and he always pooped. but yeah, it smells horrible

Foods too?  My 9 month is on brastmilk and food and she poops 5-6 x a day and it's stinky.  I'm pretty sure it's the foods.

He was eating food and drinking breastmilk before and wasn't pooping nearly as much.

Could be a reaction to the formula. I would mention it to mom, like, "I've noticed that X has been pooping a lot more frequently since he's been on formula. I thought you should be aware to look for the same at home." overall, it probably won't change things, but she may opt to see if another formula might agree with baby better. Best case, she starts pumping again.

the formula is not used as effecently as bm. so there will be more poo, n stinky poo

Well my bb is on bm and still poops like 9x a day and they stink! My daughter was ff and she pooped like 1x a day and they didn't stink till she ate solids, so... I dunno

Thats what I was thinking. His poop is kinda greenish black. I watch other babies that are JUST FF and they dont have poop like his. How do you know if he is reacting badly to formula?

Could be fussiness, but the extreme change in poop tells me that his innards might not like the formula.

My 14 month old poos 3-4 times on average and sometimes as much as 6...it started when his solids increased. He used too poo only once a day or sometimes skip a day here and there. I miss that...but yeah it might be from increased solids... I don't know much about formula only having a EBF baby.
