A friend of mine on FB had her baby boy three or four weeks ago. He was born 5 weeks early. She really wanted to nurse but didn't know anyone else but me who had done so (I didn't know anyone in the beginning either so I know how hard it can be with little support).
She messaged me when he was a week old really freaking out about his weight gain. The dr's kept urging her to use formula but instead she pumped to try to give him extra. I really commend her for not doing as the doctors suggested. Obviously his latch was beginning to get weird cause he was having BM bottles. So I suggested they have a nursing vacation in bed, for a few days. I could tell she thought I was crazy but gave it a shot anyway.
Two weeks later they are exclusively nursing and she just thanked me for all my help and support :) She's so proud of herself and so am I!!!
YAY! Thats great for your friend and great for you too! Way to go being a source of support and reassurance for her. Nursing vacation is how I fixed my dd's latch after MIL snuck her a bottle. =)
Thanks! It feels great knowing that 2 years ago I knew absolutely nothing about breast feeding. Noth-ing. I just knew it felt like the right thing to do and here I am now with a 2 year old nursling and I just helped someone with their newborn :-D Awesome feeling!!!!!
