So I read somewhere you are supposed to take in 5000 calories while bf to ensure you and lo are well nurished???? I was wondering how true this is and if any of you follow it?? I know I don't eat any where near that much and my ds is a chunky little monkey at 5 days he was already 8 pounds 7 ounces and he was 7 pounds 13 ounces at birth!!!!

Eat to hunger, drink to thirst. No need to count anything!

Um NO!!! You would be morbidly obese if you did! You need an extra 300-500 a day on average.

Lol! That's a sure way to get really fat while breastfeeding!
No you can eat your normal diet and breastfeed perfectly. Nursing supposedly burns 500 extra calories a day, so you will just potentially lose some weight if you don't consume more, but you will make plenty of milk either way :-)
