I don't understand...told to stop nursing

So Natalya is my lo. He is so sweet. As my previous post said I do hate bf BUT I loved how much she loves nursing, the money benefits, and again feeling like I was doing something I never though I could.
At talyas follow up for her tongue clipping and her 2 mth check up my husband was told that she is not gaining weight....worse she is losing weight! How is this happening. Why is this so hard for us! I don't want to feel like a failure but damn it I do. I may have hated it and wished for te simplistic nature that ff is to me because that's what I know and my family has always done. Just in the last week she dropped down an oz and she should have gained a lot since she was clipped and able to properly nurse at least I thought she wAs!
Since I'm sure someone will ask to give me suggestions here is her weight history and height
Birth 7.6 21 inch
Leaving hospital three days later
7.2 1/2 21 in
2 wk 7.4 1/2
4 wk 8.14 21 1/4 inches
8 wks 9.6
9 wks 9.4 1/2

Well the solution according to the dr (who I do test and is NOT telling us to stop giving bm) is saying pump everything I can, give high calorie formula after the bm until she is done eating. This means ( I can only get half an oz each time I pump every two hours) that she will be almost completely ff. that I should not latch her what so ever because she is burning more calories then she is getting in just trying to nurse. I'm at a loss. I knew my supply had taken a hit urging our issues with her being tongue tied but now what will it do? I'm flustered I'll add more in the replies as people respond

I hate to tell you this but my son was like that too. he would eat for a full hour before done! every 3 hours... and I only fed off of one side at a time (we were trying to manage oal)

let her feed till she is full- your bb's never get totaly empty and will continue to make milk for her even while she is eating. Keep her on more often and for way longer spurts. do not let her off until SHE pulls away- EACH and every time. This will take some getting used to and your housework will go to pot for a few weeks...

my ds feed for an hour every feeding for a good 3 almost 4 months!

I've been working with both a lc or actually a group of LCs and her group of peds. She will be full but it takes her at least an hour before she will fall asleep an stop nursing

The best way to increase your supply or to even get the milk out is by baby. The more she is away from your breast the less milk you will make. Does she seems full after you nurse her? I would feed on demand. Have her eat off of one breast until she pulls herself off, have a good burp, and the offer the other breast. If she still seems hunger you could then try supplementing. Have you talked to a lactation consultant or are you just going by her pediatrician?

She has started projectile vomiting out of her nose. We are talking fountain of milk! I'm waiting for a dr call back. This is off the formula she tried and my milk. I tried my milk first. She has enhailed some of the milk and turned blue three times now so she is in my lap and we are watching her like a hawk.

Has she been evaluated for GERD/reflux? Sounds like she could have either a food allergy or silent reflux interfering with diapers. Also, how is your letdown? IDK if that has been asked yet.

I can feel a let down and she has been spitting up a bit always but today it's been extreme! She hasn't been evaluated for anything but I may need to do that. This is a new freaky thing really making me worry

Could an allergy be Causing the issues she has been having when I was nursing but to a smaller degree?

If a dairy or soy protein allergy, it could have. The amounts in your milk could have been just enough to make her fussy, but adding the full formula could have made it worse. My older has a dairy protein allergy- every time she gets exposed to dairy on accident her reaction gets worse. Any eczema or strange rashes? You said she has a poopy about every eight days, what are they like?

Reflux could also be a potential culprit. My second had reflux, until she was nine months old there wasn't a day I didn't get puked on. Her gain was good, diapers were good, she just puked a lot. I have OAL, so we were compensating for that on top of the reflux. Some things you can try: upright during feedings, keep feedings small to avoid over filling tummy to the point it comes back up, burp frequently, and cutting dairy from your diet (and use a dairy and possibly soy free formula) for a month- that is how long it will take for you to see a change if it is a dairy issue. We learned that Anah would want to suck so much, but with my oversupply and OAL kept getting milk and that would just come back up. Nuk pacifiers (like the ones hospitals use) were our best friend. We also swaddled her until six months and did tummy massage every night. That helped some of her general fussing from the upset tummy.

Ask your pedi about pyloric stenosis.  How long has the vomiting been going on?

Other things to look for: reflux, dairy allergy, soy allergy

She throws up some after every feeding, always has. The projectile is just since she got home today and it's been near nonstop for fivehours

It doesn't sound that you're far off, so how often are you nursing? I honestly think pumping won't make a good solution just nursing more. I am sorry you're going thru so much. Hugs!
