Finger sucking while nursing

Declan is 4 months and for the last week or so, midway through nursing, he will start sucking on his fingers for a few seconds and starts to nurse for a second and goes back and forth. He is trying to tell me he is not satisfied or learning a new trick? Anyone's lo doing this?

learning a new trick

fyi... if he starts doing nipple and fingers together, treat it as you would any other nursing manners thing (like biting)--it HURTS. :(

It may be a new trick, or some teething pain. Nursing manners and teething remedies should help.. :o)

He's definitely not nursing much today. Im guessing it is teething or ear infection. We went for his 4 month check up and they saw fluid in ear. I thought it was cute when he started sucking on his fingers....now....not so much. I can tell that he's not feeling well :(
