We have had MANY discussions about your in-laws, Hoevegirl. Remember what I told you before. **smile**

Let me say this, your baby=your business, no desert island needed!!!

In-laws in my experience, will find something else to gripe about when this is over. No sense stopping on their account.

Before I actually breastfed I would of thought you were nuts. While I wouldn't breastfeed until 3-5, I support a mothers right to decide to nurse if her child wants to. I want to nurse to 24 months, I've made it 8 months so far:-)

My husband has a cousin who was made fun of hardcore by his own grandmother for breastfeeding at age five. He still gets made fun of today. She used to call him a titty baby and all kinds of other things because he would walk up and ask his mom to take off her shirt so he could eat. I stopped BF when my kids started teething, it got to where it hurt to even touch my nipples at all.

WWWWWOWWWW!
Are you serious?
To each their own I suppose, but this is such an uneducated response. please read up on this subject, there are SO many studies (SCIENCE) that prove opposite.
Please don't ever give this advice/opinion to a new mom. You could do A LOT of harm.:-(

I *personally* have a problem with it because I think the young ages are the times where a kid really starts learning their personality. And I feel that kid who is still nursing on the breast is going to be less independant and more of a "baby" type. I feel they get too attached to mommy, and less learning to be dependant and how to be a kid. Also, I feel with how rude people are nowadays, I would hate for someone to say something to a mom about it, and have a child hear and think they are doing something wrong.

I don't care whether a Mom wants to EBF or not. It's not my life. I just would never do it with my kids.

That's just mean and ignorant to be teased like that :(
Future reference, teaching nursing manners will break the biting habit :)
