Unrelated to BFing... TEETHING?

My daughter is 2-1/2 months old and we believe she may be teething because she has many of the symptoms I've read about online. She started showing symptoms last week. Before then she had started sleeping 5 hours at night. Sometimes I would wake her after 4 hours because that's what my BF book said but most of the time I let her sleep if I didn't feel engorged. During the day she would take 2-1/2 to 3 hour naps. Now I'm lucky if she sleeps for 1 hour and then after her midnight feeding last night she wouldn't sleep unless she was in the bed with my husband and I... something we NEVER got in the habit of doing because we didn't want her to become used to it. Before this phase began she slept great in her crib in her nursery... we kept her in our room until she outgrew her bassinet... she's a long baby! lol.

Anyway, I'm having a hard time figuring out if it is, in fact, teething that is causing her to be so extremely fussy, sleepless, and frantically chewing on her hand or if it is just another phase. I also noticed she doesn't eat as well. She will eat then pull off then latch back on then pull off again...

Did anyone else's children start teething this early? Does this even sound like what the problem is??

SORRY FOR RAMBLING!

I think DS is teething and he is 3 months old. About like you said as far as sleep habits. I side-carred the crib and took the drop arm off so it us open to the bed, but I'll co-sleep in bed too. He also drools and has swollen gums. DD cut get first tooth the day after she turned 5 months, so it wouldn't surprise me. Hope y'all get some rest!

1 mom liked this

Mine started teething at 2 months (didn't cut teeth until 7 months though)

I was confused too because I recognized the symptoms but didn't think it started so early, so I asked her pedi and she said it was normal. there's painful activity under the surface long before there are actual teeth coming through.

Definitely sounds like teething in your case. Homeopathic treatments have no age limitation, so I'd try that. Amber teething necklaces are amazing. A lot of people swear by teething tablets, but they never worked for us. I used Gentle Naturals teething drops.

I've been using both the teething tablets and gripe water. I think the gripe water may be making her constipated so I'm cutting back on that for a couple days to see if that's the case. The teething tablets do work for us. I've never heard of the Amber necklace... I'll have to try that out. We have some little teething rings but she isn't holding on to things just yet so we have to hold it for her. We also bought this cool little doodad from the pharmacy called a Razz Berry and it's a little pacifier-shaped thing that you put in the freezer and it looks just like a raspberry and she loooves that thing! Again, we have to hold it for her but she prefers that to the teething rings. I hope it gets better because that mixed with the fighting sleep especially during the dreadful witching hour (6-7pm every night) SUCKS!! lol.

Love the razz berries. We have one :) unfortunately dd didn't like it lol. She's never liked any of the numerous teething toys I bought either. The only thing she consistently gnaws on is actually the lid/dropper of the teething drops. When we're done with a bottle, I wash out the dropper and let her have it. The measuring part fits perfectly in her hand and she chews on the squishy tip.

My guy started teething around that time, drooled like crazy...everything got much better once I put the amber necklace on( he's cut 4 teeth now with it,) I also leave it on full time (he's always with me) that's when it really started working! I keep camilla homeopathic liquid drops(they are awesome) on hand for bad nights.
Also around 4ish months his sleep habits kinda went south anyway, and if he didn't sleep in bed with us, none of us would sleep...

Both of my girls started teething at 2 months. Dd1 didn't cut her first tooth until 6mo and we're still waiting for dd2 to cut her first one (she just turned 6mo). Our amber teething necklace has helped dd2 a lot and also hyland's teething tablets.

Yep, DD started teething around 2mo, cut her first tooth at 4mo (and three more followed quickly). I bought her an amber necklace (put it on her ankle at night) and it worked amazingly well. Really cut back on the drooling, and she barely seemed to notice the teeth coming through. I already have a necklace waiting for our new LO due in Oct.

My dd started teething at 2 months and got both bottom front teeth at 3 months! Amber teething necklace was the only thing that helped

Do they chew on the necklace or is it just for them to wear and it magically makes them feel better??
