18 month old doesn't want solids

My 18 month old is usually an excellent eater, usually eating more, and more of a variety than my 4 year old!  He seems to be in a slump lately and mostly wants to nurse only.  He's already a skinny little guy, but he lost 6 oz between his 15-18 month check ups (19 lbs 5 oz- 18 lbs 15 oz).  He grew an inch and is meeting all milestones splendidly, just won't gain (and now losing) weight!

Sometimes my 22 month old can be like that. I would just keep offering. I never force DS to eat.

He should be just fine on your milk alone still. My oldest daughter is STUBBORN. Around that age, she would drop everything when she tried to use her spoon. She wouldn't pick it up with her hand and she wouldn't let me feed her! I swear, if she hadn't been nursing, she would have starved to death!

My son does this at times, but he's gaining really well. I would say just nurse right now, and offer solids, but don't force it. I know my son when he isn't feeling well, or teething will refuse solids. He was just getting over a bad cold and refused solids as well, and now it just starting to eat better.  He is 22 months old.

Keep offering, try making it things he can dip or play with to eat. Make it a game. My kiddos loved being dinos eating broccoli. Dipping cracker sticks in peanut butter, broccoli in cheese, chicken in sauce etc.

That's my first thought too.

Toddlers go through phases like this and it's fine. He'll eat more again when he feels better or needs more. He will not starve himself. He's still getting great nutrition from your milk.

Actually, I think his cuspids are coming in

Mine too. Just keep offering - it's his job to decide when to eat.

There you go! Teething can disrupt things. It might hurt him to chew and nursing feels better.

Oh, yeah. I remember cuspids being really bad. Probably because they're sharp and pointy?

Chances are, once they come in, he'll eat everything in sight for a week to make up for it!
