It can be. Can you be more specific about what kind of soreness?
Typical pains that moms feel, however: Letdown (tingling and prickly) and nipple soreness due to imminent return of menstruation (and yes, that's normal too).
Give us a little more to go on so we can be more helpful.

Its like a sharp pain kinda its comes and goes
Mine hurts even after 19 month randomly but really it's when he's nurses more all a sudden. When my oldest was 3 month I started hurting mostly when I nursed it was thrush. Look for white patches in babies mouth. (Took about a day when I realize the pain was abnormal for me to see anything in babies mouth) If you see any call your doctor. Hope it gets better, hang in there mama.
Amy, still need a little more specific info... sorry! Is it nipple pain, deep breast pain? Do you notice leaking in conjunction with it? Any tenderness to the touch? Any sore spots on the breast?
From what you have told us, sounds to me like letdown and that pain can come and go.
If it comes and goes, yes, I think it's letdown... and that will cease.
