A friend of mine had her daughter 3 weeks ago today. She took her Monday for her 2 week appt and she was down from 7 lbs 1 oz at her PP check up at 6 days old to 6 lbs 11 oz.
My friend said that she thinks her nipples are too big for babies mouth. She started pumping and that seems to be helping some-she gained .02 oz as of Thursday. She said her daughter doesn't seem to be able to take her whole nipple into her mouth but can take a bottle nipple without issue.
The doctor is having her supplement with formula and also pumping and feeding her that.
I suggested having her checked for a lip/tongue tie and she said that it's just her nipple is too big.
Anything thoughts on this? She doesn't want to do the formula but is anyway and I'm trying to help support her through this as we both feel bm is the best option overall.
