We are taking LO to Disney.. I know y'all think I'm crazy for going in July with. 17 month old but that's just how it worked out... Just wanted to know if anyone had bf their toddler in Disney and was it acceptable to their staff and the other people around? Not that i care just wanted to know someones experiance..I normally wear 2 shirts so I can bf in public but the 90+ weather prolly won't allow that. Sooo not sure what I will do at this point... Any tips on keeping my little ginger baby kool other than staying in doors during the hot afternoon hrs?? Tnx guys

Go into a family room where it is air conditioned.

This was me at Disney World two years ago, nursing my (then one year-old) at a bench I just plopped down at. I have a plethora of nursing tops so I was nursing super sneaky. We went the end of July/early August. With the heat index it was 105 degrees. We stayed onsite so we were able to take advantage of the "Magic Hours" when some of the parks were open until 2am. We usually didn't even try to go into the parks until 5pm, and then we stayed until 2am so that's still 9 hours! It was just TOO HOT during the day to attempt it. We went broke ducking into air-conditioned gift shops!

We go to Disney (California) all the time - we live about 20 mins away. There is a babycare room at the end of main street on the right just before it empties into the main park. It's a small store front with a glass window and narrow glass door. You'd probably never notice it if you weren't looking. There are chairs in a partitioned section where it's dim and mellow, the changing area is CLEAN and constantly attended to, they have a kitchenette if you need it and an area with kids' tables and highchairs for feeding. It's attended by 2 ladies. You are welcome to nurse anywhere, all employees are well aware of that, but it's there, so take advantage of it! Have fun!

i am not going to judge you, but if i chose to bf that long i wouldn't do it in public as it's not a primary source of nutrition (so not totally necessary) and it would save me the hassle.

Nurse while your on the rides. I mean the calm rides, not on splash mountain. Epcot has a ton of inside rides that are in air conditioning so you can still enjoy yourselves and see things while nursing.

Judt fyi, breastmilk will prevent toddler dehydration WAY better than water. At that temp one must be concerned not only about water intake but electrolyte balance. Toddlers have tiny systems so tons of water can throw it ofg. While sports drinks are an option, its way sugary and BM is MUCH healtjier. It also changes componemts in the heat.

Another tjing to keep in mind is Disney is an internatiomal destination. One could be exposed to a plethora of germs. The antibodies in BM can offer wonderful protection to.a still fragile toddler immune system.

those are great points. i'd definitely be taking advantage of an AC'd nursing room if available though!

The tray on the stroller is great to fill up with water. Baby will have a blast getting her hands wet and then getting her face and clothes wet.

Bring a wash cloth you can get wet for her to play with too.
