Jaundice is very normal for newborns and unless there's a lack of mom's milk, they don't need formula. I would begin looking for a new doc, personally...
If she still acts starving after nursing, then you want to put her back to the breast so she can tell your body to make more milk. Giving formula when she should be nursing will have a negative impact on your supply.
Dump the formula, nurse on demand and as long as her poops are soft when she goes, she's doing great.

Also she's been getting it since 2 days old .... and she only gets maybe 4-6oz a day... only of she stills acts like she's starving after nursing and refuses the boob

Her pediatrician wanted us to supplement for volume because of her having jaundice at 2 days old and he said after her 2 wk appt we could go back to ebf

She is nursing every 1.5 - 3 hrs and she gets formula to... she was having 2-4 poopy diapers until today
Quoting maggiemom2000:The formula kind of throws a wrench into things as it can constipate. Why is baby getting formula? How much formula every day? How long has she been getting the formula? At only 2 days she should be having at least 2 poops a day. Less may mean not enough milk. When she is at least 4 weeks and gaining fine, then it is okay for her to poop less (notice the info PP posted specifies AFTER 6 weeks old).
How is nursing going? How frequently is baby nursing? How are your nipples?
My son was jaundice and I never gave formula....why would your pedi tell you that?! Pedis know nothing about breastfeeding, or at least most of them don't. I never take advice about Bfing from Cavins pedi. You shouldnt be supplementing, it is probably the culprit of the constipation, I would get her off formula now.

First, your doctor gave you BAD breastfeeding advice. Breastmilk is better for clearing jaundice than formula. Formula constipates and makes it harder for the baby to poop out the bilirubin.
Second, the "acting like she's starving and refusing the boob" is her wanting the easier, faster flow of the bottle rather than working for her food at the breast. I would dump the formula. It is not needed and will most likely lead to her not wanting to nurse at all soon due to bottle preference. The formula could be the reason why she isn't pooping much now.

My baby had jaundice and the hospital pedi told us to keep BFing. She also said check in with regular ped. We went in the day after discharge and she said baby was fine and to keep BFing and don't worry about formula. Only my nurse for one shift told me I needed to be supplementing. I told her no thank you and she never came back to my room and I got a new nurse lol. I guess she went and told the other nurses I was rude because I didn't listen to her advice. Whatever.
As for pooping, the formula can interfere if it's just now introduced. But babies also have different schedules of poop. Some go everyday, some a few times a day, some once every two days, and my pedi said it was normal to go even three days without. As long as the color is fine (color will vary but there are certain warning colors to look out for. Obviously red, but black (after meconium has passed then black poop can be an indicator of blood), also chalky, clay-colored poop. Also, if it's coming out in hard lumps or pellets, that usually a sign your baby is constipated. Otherwise, no pooping is normal. My baby ould go once a day and then ocassionally stop for a day randomly.

Drop the formula and nurse more frequently. If baby nurses on both sides and s still hungry, put her back on the breast. If she refuses, just keep holding her, skin to skin. Eventually she will take it. Try getting her to the breast sooner before she gets too hungry.
Try to spend the next couple of days spending as much time as possible skin to skin. Baby in only a diaper on your bare chest. Just stay like that all day, watching movies or something. This will get her nursing more frequently, nursing better, and boost your supply.

it was a typo when I had 2 days instead of 12. Still, 12 days is way before 6 weeks, and too young for an EBF baby to not poop at least twice a day. Daily poop counts are the best way of judging milk intake in the first few weeks.
