I was told I should wean but I didn't.. I kept nursing until my 8th month of pregnancy. I only stopped then because dd stopped.  She was 22 months.

I asked my obgyn if it is ok to nurse while pregnant, and he said it is fine. But he wasn't very supportive, he said most women give up around 20 weeks because it is too much. GL! I say do it :)

Nope. Unless you have a history of preterm labor, it is absolutely safe to nurse!

I was told to stop because of my history of preterm labor, she wasn't yet a yr old so I continued until about 2 weeks ago when I was 16 weeks. But I didn't push it, she was nursing less and less and drinking whole milk. Now she just nurses for comfort every now and then.

i nursed my first while pregnant with my second. she had started solids. i stopped when she was about ten months old, though.

pregnant with my third, and i wasn't producing enough, as my second was exclusively breast fed, still. so he is on formula.

but i was never TOLD to wean. i found out through my own research that it was probably okay. just make sure you drink enough fluids. it's going to tax your body a bit more than usual.

I was told by people to wean. my midwife was very suprised I nursed all the way through but she never advised me to wean.
Theres no reason unless your at high risk of miscarriage and not always then either. My good friend is still nursing her son and 16 weeks pregnant and shes had two miscarriages and considered high risk. Her specialists in boston see no reason to wean.

I was told the same by my obgyn, my son nursed until my 8th month and he was 27mo when he weaned. Just need more calories!

This makes me feel better. I am about 5-6 weeks pregnant with my second and still nursing my 13 month old. The advice nurse said I should wean but I'm not and my first appointment isn't until the end of the month.

Thanks ladies! It didn't sound right to me. I'm so fed up with the medical profession at the moment.
