DD is 5 weeks old. We had a rough start to breastfeeding because of a lip tie. We seem to have fixed the latch, but my nipples are still cracked. They are startig to heal, but every time I feed her or pump, the cracks open up a little. It hasn't been an issue until today. When she finished on the right side, I noticed a tiny bit of blood on my nipple, but didn't think anything of it. Then she started spitting up, a ton, and it had a lot of red in it. It wasn't just a slight pink tinge either. She spit up so much that she was hungry again. At the next feed the same thing happened. What do I do? With my first baby, I had a little blood get in the milk once and my LC said it was fine and wouldn't hurt her, but this is obvioiusly bothering her. I put lanolin on after every feed. I express a few drops of milk and let it dry on the nipple at least once a day... I don't know what to do to speed up the healing. Should I try to just feed her on the other side and pump on the bleeding side until there is less blood? Do I just keep feeding normal even though it seems to bother her?
