I am going to be having my baby by C-Section and i wanted to know, how soon can you or do you start breastfeeding?
you can start as soon as you out of the or. in the recovery area. for me it was a little different becasue my son was taken to the nicu. but with my other kids it was in recovery.
i got to breast feed my son about 1 1/2 hrs after my csection. they ran the tests and my hubby got to give him his first bath. i had to wait til i could sit up on my own. i had a csection and a tubal done at the same time though.
I never had any issues with my c-section and breastfeeding. You have to start right away. I breastfed and only breastfed from the first time they handed her to me. P.S.I kind of thought that a c-section made things much easier on me because you are in the hospital longer, so you have more help for those first few days before your milk drops. I breastfed for a year successfully with my c-section baby.
I think it was roughly 2 hours after for me. BUT I had problems in my c-section and had to be put to sleep and recovery took WAY longer. It didn't cause any problems though, she took right to nursing and did just fine.
thank you all for the advice.
