Returning to work after age 1....

Collin is 14 months. I will be returning to work in a few weeks just one day a week. From those that have done this, should I expect to be engorged or have clogged ducts due to 7-8 hours with no nursing? Should I bring my pump 'just in case' I need it? I have a double electric pump.

Also Collin still nurses a lot. Some days he wont touch solids, others he is a crazy eating solids kid. This weekend he went from only nursing for a few days to eating tons of solids & I got clogged ducts & the beginning of mastitis. So my ducts are sensitive or something!!!

I would bring your pump just in case....even with my guy nursing constantly I do fine when away for 8 hour days, I bet you will too.

I started working when Johnathan was a year. I didn't have any major engorgement issues. Maybe a little by the end of a 10-12 hour tournament.

After a year, the engorgement seems to be much less of an issue.

I would bring your pump just in case & just listen to your body & pump if you feel extra full or uncomfortable. Every person is different, but I personally have to drop pumping/nursing sessions very slowly as I seem to get clogged milk ducts/mastitis very easily. Depending on the day, I still pump once or twice a day at work even though my DD is 15 months old to relieve the fullness.
