I am due October 27th, with a daughter I have always known when I had a baby i would breast feed. I love the bonding I witnessed all of my elders do with their babys. I would like to know if anyone can give me tips and tricks to help please.

I would like to breast feed for a year after that I just do not think would be right.

But that is just my opinion, I don't judge what other mothers do with that.

I have 3 babies, breastfed them all and still come to this group for advice and help so these ladies are great for info.

Also check out kellymom.com There is very bit of info you could ever want on that site!

After your baby is born, breastfeed as soon as possible! My first 2 spent their first hours in the NICU and were given pacifiers which just started nipple confusion and latch problems. My 3rd I got to BF about 15 minutes after birth (I had to wait to get sewn up lol) but she had no problems latching at all!!

Good luck!

Thank you,

just even the basics of what to do would be great I have no idea.

I thought the babys just suck out the milk but now I hear that it isnt just that simple.

Before you buy ONE THING for that baby, go to the bookstpre for a copy of "So That's What They're For" by Janet Tamaro. It covers the basics.

Check out our resources sticky at the top of this forum.

Get to know kellymom.com and drjaygordon.com too.

Better to have a head stuffed with knowledge than a nursery stuffed with baby gear... baby only cares about eating, nothing more.

I found "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding - By La Leche League" a good read. I also found www.breastfeeding-problems.com helpful.

Oh and you may find that breastfeeding comes smoothly to you or you may have a rough first few weeks... Don't give up, it gets better/easier as you and baby "learn" together.
