Hi ladies I have been in this group for some time just didn't post since I was pregnant and not bf yet. Had my baby a week ago and have a question I would like suggestions or tips with. I still don't have it down on how to get her to latch on without completely pulling out my whole boob n tryn to latch her on. So my question is how would I do it when I'm out in public? I really need to go get some groceries but have been putting it off cuz Idk how I would start her if she was yo get hungry while we are out?? thanks in advance :)

Practice in front of a mirror, also put her in a wrap or sling & it doesn't matter how much boob you pull out because in those no one can really see anything. Also, try layer shirts, nursing tank under a reglar shirt, tank down, shirt up baby on is how I did it.(& I was a ddd while nursing & never showed more than a sliver of skin.)

Nursing a newbie in a ring sling is a life saver.,

The first few weeks are a bit awkward just because both you and baby are still learning how to do things right and, typically, youve got some engorgement. my only suggestion is "practice makes perfect". wear two shirts and maybe for the first couple weeks a light blanket to cover with. Biggest thing though...just nurse that baby! there is usually less showing than what you think and who REALLY cares if a bit shows for a few seconds?! if anyone is staring that hard, then they must want a show, lol.

Layers is my best advice. It also gets easier as you and baby learn to breastfeed better.

Another thing i remembered from the early days...sometimes just turning around and latching in a corner helped, then you can turn right back around and continue on.

I woukd just find a corner to turn away from everyone for a moment and rearrange yourself before going on. Or you could carry a light blanket to just cover the latching part and then move on from there. Practicing in front of a mirror is very helpful as well.
