my  16 week old baby wont suck on me!! Does this mean she doesn't like it anymore? I tried to pump but could only pump an 1 oz so I gave it to her, but I dont know what to do to make her stop crying. I have tried the laying down position the sitting position. Any ideas?

Try laid back nursing. If you can go on youtube and you will see videos of laid back nursing position. 4 mts is a big growth spurt. Just keep offering.

i have tried that position as well. She feel asleep and I feel bad like she could be hungry but she feel asleep. She sleeped a lot today and I nursed a lot earlier. Maybe it is a growth spurt!

If she was hungry she wouldnt sleep. Pump output means nothing about supply. .5-2oz is a good pump. Some women dont respond to the pump at all. Gl sounds like a growth spurt.

I would say if shes not sucking actively shes not starving. Try skin to skin and look for signs of hunger. Ive only been bf for 4 months sorry if I dont have the best advice..hang in there momma

She could also be teething. That can cause a baby to not want to nurse if it hurts to suck. You can give her a cold, wet washcloth to gnaw on before nursing to help. Tylenol, teething tablets, and amber necklaces can help with the pain.

3 moms liked this

But there is NO WAY a 16 week old baby will just "not like it anymore"; they will not give up their will to live and eat. It could be a growth spurt. It could be teething. It could be a cold. She could have gas. See what pattern is developing here, or not. Might be a fluke.

If she is teething could that be why she is sucking on her hand. I keep thinking that she is hungry but could that be teething?
