After doing some research, I think I have over active letdown and oversupply. Possibly caused by having to pump for much of the first 8 weeks of DS's life due to tongue tie. He will be 3 months old on Tuesday. Anyway, I nurse him on demand but try to not let him go longer than 3 hours during the day. At night he goes about 4-5 hours. I can feel my letdown and he will pull off a lot. I didn't used to spray but he still pulled off. So I didn't think I had OAL. But lately I have been spraying - about 2 days now. He pulls off so much that he nurses for a very short time before becomming upset. I try to use gravity but he still does it. He gets so upset that he won't latch back on. I also know he is probably coming upon his 3 month growth spurt. But I can't tell if he is popping off because of the milk spraying or because he wants more. The milk doesn't spray the whole time, I should say. Just after let down. Then it seems to be normal flow. It is after a short while of that when he gets fussy and keeps pulling off. I am afraid to try block nursing. I am already hurting from him nursing so sporadically. And I don't want to affect my supply negatively by block feeding. Question - will my OAL and oversupply correct itself without me having to do block nursing after a bit? Won't it just change to his demand? Or can I expect to always have this problem?
