My two week old has started to cry and fuss alot after nursing. She spits up a but too. Gripe water helps luckily but ate there any other foods I need to avoid besides dairy?

Have you looked into overactive letdown or oversupply?Do you spray when you unlatch, does baby choke & gag while nursing? If that fits I'd try to fix that before going to dairy.

I have a lot of milk but but I don't think that's the problem this time. I did have that issue with my son. She seems to get really fussy and gassy a while after nursing. And her poops stink a lot.

Only eliminate ONE thing at a time. Dairy takes weeks to clear; it's too early to see much.

1 mom liked this

Our dr told us when my LO was going through that [my sympathies, if it was anything like it was with us it was awful!] she said that when they are sensitive to dairy they are almost always sensitive to soy as well. Cut out both completely and afte 2-4 weeks [dairy stays in your system for two weeks and can stay in baby's for an additional two weeks after it leaves yours] if you feel up for it you can try to add one of the two back in very slowly if you want to know how much baby can tolerate or if soy is an issue. I came to realize soy upsets my LO's tummy worse than dairy [soy is hard on the gut and and cause lots of cramping] I was told dairy baked into things, such as bread or cookies should be ok, however it does bother my son some and I had to take out all traces of dairy from my diet. this includes whey and othe various forms in just about anyting, non dairy creamer for example sometimes has this as well as soy :/ it is so worth it though and after a year they will often grow out of it!! [though mine hasn't :/ ] *hugs* don't give up! hugs

Thank you, I cut it out with my oldest when he started having problems and I also had to cut out chocolate :(

I had no idea about soy! Would almond milk be ok then?

Awe that is sad you had to cut out chocolate too, I had to cut out chocolate except dark chocolate [and only certain brands, ugh] cause it all has dairy and soy in it... so frustrating... our pedi was a lil weird about the almond milk cause of it being from nuts.. but I drink almond milk every day in my cereal and I drink a glass of dark chocolate almond milk at night for dessert lol so more than likely it would be fine unless you baby has a nut allergy too. There is also coconut milk which is really good for you and since coconut isn't actually a nut an allergy is unlikely, though still possible. There is even yummy coconut ice cream you can get!! I prefer almond milk to coconut milk though that is just me :) I'm sorry you have to go through this again!
