Just curious....What would you give your child before formula?? How far down the line is formula for you?

For me it would be

breastfeeding from me

My breastmilk from a bottle

donor milk from a bottle/wet nurse/friend nursing for me

homemade formula

store bought formula.

Yes storebought formula for me would be an absolute last resort. I just  wonder if I'm the only one. *I feel like there's something I am forgetting before homemade formula but I can't think of it*

I'd do:
1) breastfeeding directly
2) my pumped breast milk through sns
3) my pumped breast milk , any way (not a bottle, I'm a cup kinda gal)
4) human milk through sns
5) human milk in a cup
6) homemade formula, probably using the Weston A. Price recipe
7) commercial formula

This is basically the WHO list hierarchy too. The WHO states
Bm from moms breast
Bm from mom anyway
Bm from a human
Formula

Yes ma'am. That way you know all the ingredients are quality. :) Weston Price is the most common recipe. I've read over it a few times just to see.

Bm from me, my bm in a bottle, & formula. I'm not comfortable feeding my child milk from someone else. Its just how I feel. And yes I'm comfortable feeding my child milk from a cow since my dd was ff & is very healthy. Never got sick until she was two & then it was a simple cold, only health isssues are allergies in the spring.

Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding with an SNS of donor milk or organic formula to supplement
Donor milk
Organic commercial formula

I don't trust myself to make formula. Idont even know what there are for options since I've never needed to look into it! Luckily I haven't/shouldn't need to.
