So lightheaded

Little miss is going through her 6 month growth spurt and it's killing me. She's literally been nursing 24/7 for a few days now and I'm so lightheaded today no matter what I eat or drink. I've drank so much water, had 3 eggs, toast, a whole bowl of peanuts, soup with crackers, and I'm still lightheaded and shaky. She's draining me so much. What do I need to make myself stop feeling this way?

Try some Gatorade instead of water. Maybe you're losing electrolytes faster than you can replace them.

Could you be anemic? Are you taking your prenatal vitamins?

SHE is not draining you. Nursing doesn't make one lightheaded this way. Please call your doctor STAT. This is not nursing related.

Are you sure it's not nursing related? I get like this through every growth spurt but usually eating makes it go away. Usually if i eat a lot it goes right away. I don't THINK I'm anemic, but I really don't know. I take cod liver oil and eat lots of raw veggies and fruits so I don't take prenatals anymore. I ran out and never bought more.

I ate an apple and a bunch of chips and salsa after I posted and I'm not as bad now. Still feeling kinda crappy though.

Actually, anemia did come to mind. If you're not getting sufficient vitamins and iron, ANYTHING can make you feel this way. It's not specific to nursing.

Back on your prenatals. You can take OTC ones.

Yeah I'll get some more. Today stunk because I could basically accomplish nothing!

I only buy OTC prenatals, usually less than $10 for 3 months worth. Ive been taking prenatals for over 12 years straight, through 4 pregnancies and breastfed babies and the time in between.

Can you be having low blood sugar problems?

Low blood sugar?  Eating protein with some carbs every 2-3 hrs a day durign those growth spurts might help.

I just read about low blood sugar and that sounds like exactly what's going on!

I would get the same way during those growth spurts and it was low blood sugar for me.
