Why do people find it necessary to smack their babies on the back to burp them?? Some really wack them to get it done when it is so not necessary. A simple clockwise rub or gentle tap does the trick. Trust me. Try it and you'll see. Its so infuriating cause most do it mindlessly rough! Built up aggression maybe? Lol Chill out!!

Infuriating is a harsh word that I really didn't mean..irritating..lol it's irritating.

My DD really liked it to be patted very firmly. I think it depends on the baby :-)

I whacked my eldest; I don't think I knew any better. With my youngest, all I had to do rub his back, and he'd burp.

My kids needed fairly vigorous patting.  My son in particular... in fact, he would only go to sleep if we smacked him pretty hard as we were rocking him.  My nephew, though, would burp if you even acted like you might pat him LOL  It definitely depends on the kid!

I had one that wanted firm pats (with bouncing and rocking at the same time) and another who like circular rubs.  It depends on the baby.

Lol. I never could burp any of my babies, ever. That was SO's job. I sucked at it.
