After it visibly heals should it still be sore?
I've been using lanolin which helps the rubbing on my clothes but latching DD on still hurts like crazy. Is there anything else I can do/use to help the soreness go away sooner?

Why did it crack? If it was due to a poor latch, that needs to be fixed before the pain will go away.

When my nipples cracked from latch problems,, they thought I had thrush also but it turned out to be vasospasms ( raynalds phenomenon ) also very painful, and oftentimes misdiagnosed...

If it still hurts at latch, then it's more than thrush., Baby's latch needs checking.
