Rice cereal (spoon fed) Yay or Nay??

Posted by   + Show Post
Go!

Edit- NOT causing drama!! I needed I hear arguments on both sides. I'm skipping it this time and needed ideas to support my decision to explain it to my family and would also like to hear reasons to give it. People are so touchy!!

No, it's not a troll post I wanted to get info to support my decision to not do rice cereal this time. My family looked at me crazy when I told them.

Nay! blech!

Overprocessed, iron fortified sugar. That's all it is.

I think the better question would be why do it? What are the advantages or reasons to give rice cereal. Ask your family that! ;-)

Personally I think there is no reason to give rice cereal and no advantages. It's tasteless filler with little to no nutritional value. Mash up an avocado or sweet potatoe and give that to your baby; after six months of course! My dd never had rice cereal and went straight to mashed up and soft chunks of real food.

Unfortunately, there is rarely a rice cereal post that doesn't become drama. :/ It's one of THOSE issues. This isn't even that bad!

Nay for us. My children are allergic to both the rice and the oatmeal cereals (caused skin issues for both of them) so we are skipping it altogether with this next baby.  I'm hoping to do baby lead solids and I know it's going to be rough trying to explain that to my family especially since we didn't do it with the other two.
