I give up

I've given it my all. Reglan, every herbal remedy, power pumping, LC after LC... everything.

I have IGT and produce 1/2 oz at each pumping.

He refuses the breast. We saw a specialist today and he got his lip tie clipped. I thought maybe, just maybe, he would nurse. I gave it my all. Normally I give in with 15 minutes of tears from both of us, today he cried for 45 minutes, refusing to latch on even once, then he fell asleep hungry and spent. But I didn't cry this time. I'm just done.

When I saw the tears in his eyes today I felt like a bad mom. No longer was trying my hardest to breastfeed defining me as a good mom.

So I have frozen some milk and saved just incase he gets sick.

He will be on the Weston A. Price homemade baby formula. Making fresh, wholesome formula every morning is the least I can do

ONE LAST THING TO TRY! Talked to the pediatrition this morning and she said try placing a NUK nipple over my nipple and let him suck that way! Worth a try, I'll let everyone know how it goes!

OMFG IT WORKED! I'm in shock... he nursed for 5 minutes on both breasts and then fell asleep. Going to try it again when he's actually hungry! I'M SO HAPPY!

I want to give you a BIG hug. I am so sorry, mama. You are a GOOD mommy, and your sweet baby boy will get the best from you -- your clearly evident love.

your situation is why there is donor milk and formula. You have absolutely nothing to feel guilty over. You gave it your all. If you hadn't you wouldn't have asked so many questions, seeked professional help, taken herbs and medications, pumped, or had his tie released. You are a great mom!

You tried SO MUCH HARDER than most who just give up without troubles. You are a breastfeeding advocate if I ever heard of one. I'm sorry your body didn't cooperate with your brain on this one. You sound like the type of mother who will fight to the end for her child. There's no guilt to be had here.

Give it a day or two and perhaps the baby will latch when he's not so worked up. In the meantime, of course supplement as necessary and if he ultimately needs formula or donor milk, then thank God those things exist for him.
