strep throat and breastfeeding

I was told last night at the hospital I had strep... Was given meds that are fine to take while breastfeeding... I'm just afraid she will catch this mess.. Any advice??

If she's going to catch it she already did mama. Best thing to do is to keep BFing to pass your antibodies onto your LO. Obviously keep your hands washed and all that too but just keep on keepin on. Good luck and hugs!

Thank you... The whole antibody thing I knew so I was thinking she wouldn't get it or atleast not as bad

It is pretty hard to find an antibiotic that is not okay to take while breastfeeding. A good rule of thumb is that if it is an antibiotic that is prescribed for children, then it is safe for you to take while breastfeeding.

Take your meds and nurse!
